Guidelines

The guidelines of the journal club are as follows:

1 The club meets for about 1 hour once each week, including a talk on one or more (no more than 3) journal articles and Question & Answer time. The speaker is suggested to prepare a 30min talk.

2 The journal articles can be selected by the speaker from recent publications in one of the most renowned journals in his/her field. For example, for physics, we recommend the speaker to choose articles from Nature, Science, Physics Review Letters or equivalent. If the speaker wishes to choose from other journals or preprints, he or she should avoid articles that are too technical for people outside that field.

3 Undergraduate physics majors and starting graduate students are welcome to present their research. It is acceptable for them to choose non-recent articles, for instance, review articles.

4 The speaker should send a title, a short abstract and the article(s) to be introduced to the chair at least one week before his or her scheduled talk.

5 The speaker is strongly suggested to introduce from the basics and not to include many technical details.

6 If a speaker finds he or she cannot make the talk at the scheduled time, the speaker should notify the chair immediately. Short notices make it extremely difficult to find replacements.
